Rachel Safe for Now
With poor chart performances being suffered by a host of pop stars in 2003, the music industry looks set to cull a fair few well known names from their books. The latest rumour doing the rounds speculates that former S Club babe, Rachel Stevens' days are numbered.
The 25-year-old pin-up's second single Funky Dory could only manage to hit a lowly No.26 in the UK singles chart last weekend, which was a surprise considering Rachel's last hit, Sweet Dreams My LA Ex reached No.2. On top of that her debut solo album of the same name has slumped to 79 in the charts suggesting that Rachel isn't such a big draw after all.
A source says, "Things aren't looking good for her. Everyone is quite shocked because she was by far the most loved member of S Club. Men adore her, she's gorgeous."
However, a spokesperson for Rachel's record label, Polydor has reassured fans that Rachel's safe for now at least. "Rumours are starting because of her low position in the charts but we are not worried because her previous hit did so well. She has been sabotaged by her own success but we will be staying loyal to her. She is great."

Rachel turns the tables on Jeremy
Rachel Stevens has turned the tables on boyfriend Jeremy Edwards for saying he didn't like her showing her body off.
She says she isn't too keen on the tight costume he wears in Les Liasons Dangereuses in his West End debut, reports the Daily Mirror.
"I don't like him wearing those trousers in front of so many people," said Rachel.
Last month, Jeremy said he wasn't happy the former S Club star had posed for a series of raunchy photoshoots since launching her solo pop career.
"I just don't think it's necessary," he said. "The other day I opened The Sun and saw Rachel there with all her boobs pushed up and I wasn't comfortable with it."

Rachel's Funky flops
Rachel Stevens is finding life after S Club tough going - her new single is about to bomb.
According to early figures, Funky Dory is set to enter at No24, having sold fewer than 3,500 copies. She is being thrashed by the likes of Ozzy and Kelly Osbourne, Sir Cliff Richard and Christina Aguilera.
It's a disaster for Rachel, regarded as the only S Clubber who stood a chance of a solo career when the band split. Funky Dory is the second release from her debut album of the same name. That isn't faring well either - it has plummeted to No77 after its release in September.

Jeremy is fine with Rachel's outfits (says Rachel)
Rachel Stevens has been reacting to her boyfriend Jeremy Edwards' comments in the press that he didn't like her new sexy image.
He said he wasn't comfortable with her being scantily clad in her videos and that it wasn't necessary because it overshadows her talent.
But speaking to Radio 1 last week, the ex S Clubber denied it all and reckons he's actually a fan of her skimpy outfits:
"He loves it! I think sometimes it's probably quite weird seeing your girlfriend with, you know, not much on, but he's fine with it. He's fine!"

Hannah Pulls Out of
Yarmouth Charity Show
Pop star Hannah Spearritt has been forced to pull out of tomorrow night's police charity concert in Yarmouth because of work commitments.
The former S Club 7 star, from Gorleston, had been due to compère the show at Vauxhall Holiday Park, and fans had already booked tickets to come from as far afield as Essex.
Police spokesman Jon Smith said: "Apparently, she has been delayed at a studio in London in connection with her recent filming in Hollywood. We are very disappointed but we totally understand that she has got her career."

Boyfriend says Rachel is 'showing too much flesh'
Rachel Stevens' sexy new image has got the thumbs-down from boyfriend Jeremy Edwards.
The former S Club star has posed for a series of raunchy photoshoots since launching her solo career. But Edwards said he was unhappy with her choice of skimpy outfits.
"I just don't think it's necessary," he told Now magazine. "The other day I opened The Sun and saw Rachel there with all her boobs pushed up and I wasn't comfortable with it.
"It seems that the easiest way for a young girl to sell records is to get her kit off and get herself in the tabloids, but I think there's a danger of being known for that instead of your talent.
"Rachel's a really good singer and I worry that her image will overshadow that. But the suits seem to think that they know what they're doing, so we just have to go along with it."
Stevens, 25, recently posed in a see-through basque to promote her latest single, Funky Dory. And she has worn a string of revealing outfits for magazine covers and billboard ads.
The couple are back together after a brief split this summer but former Holby City star Edwards, 32, said their engagement is definitely off.
"I've never really seen myself being married much before I was 35 because I am incredibly immature, moody, difficult and selfish. So, to be honest, until I've grown up a bit, it'd be a complete waste of time," he said.
The actor, soon to star in a West End production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, said he is keen to start a family but Stevens wants to concentrate on her career.

Rachel's whips seized at airport

The former S Club star was flying to Edinburgh for the Royal Variety Performance. Security officials at Heathrow said the whips, which the singer uses in her raunchy act, could be weapons, says The Sun.
Stevens said: "It's funny. What did they imagine?"

Rachel's really X Club now
Sexy singer Rachel Stevens leaves little to the imagination in the video for her new single Funky Dory which includes a riff from Bowie's song Andy Warhol, from his Hunky Dory album.
But it was the skimpy, transparent blue basque the former S Club singer wore which caused most of the gasps on the set.
One insider on the video shoot said: "All the men's jaws dropped when they saw Rachel. She really looked gorgeous and loved being in front of the camera."
Rachel, who is currently dating actor Jeremy Edwards, was recently voted into a female celebrity England team, based on how the skills the women showin their profession might translate on to the football pitch.
Meanwhile Tina Barrett is ready to rival her former band mate but not as a hip-hop star.
There have been reports that she's teamed up with DJ Touche of Budweiser TV advert theme fame, but she'll still be doing pop. And she has knocked back the chance of a job presenting on Sky TV.
Tina, 27, claims she's glad Rachel's career has started well, her debut Sweet Dreams My LA Ex went to No. 2 in the charts.
It will be interesting to see if Tina can cut it as a solo artist especially since the thought of performing, she has admitted, turns her into a bag of nerves.

Rachel has what it takes up front
Rachel Stevens got the nod up front when football fans voted for their favourite female celebrity England team. More than 1,000 fans voted on the FA's website to pick the team based on translating women's skills to football.
The team was assembled based on how the skills the women draw on in their chosen professions might translate onto the football pitch.
Rachel Stevens' petite frame, nippy dance moves and high endurance levels made her an automatic choice up front with MisTeeq's Alesha edging ahead of Miss Dynamite as her striking partner.
Kate Lawler was the clear favourite, backed by 20% of voters, to play in midfield where she plays alongside Keira Knightley, Tess Daley and Zoe Slater.
At the back, Radio 1 DJ Sara Cox feisty personality and ballsy approach to life made her the choice of 19% of voters where she is joined by her mate Zoe Ball, Jade Goody and EastEnders' Kat Slater.
Mel C was the runaway winner when it came to choosing a goalkeeper, despite her recent injury in The Games, with Jordan the only other contender.
To motivate and manage the squad, the public selected no-nonsense Anne Robinson ahead of the scientific approach of Carole Vorderman and the insider knowledge of Victoria Beckham.
An FA spokesperson commented: "I'm sure if a team such as this ever took to the pitch, it would have the whole nation excited beyond belief and what's more it also really highlights the 'beautiful' in the beautiful game!"

Trouble between Tina & Tommy?
First it was Rachel Stevens. Now all is not well between ex- S Club bandmate Tina Barrett and her rich boyfriend Tommy Hulme.
"They have been arguing a lot," a source said. "Tina wants it to work out but her main priority is her career. She's really desperate to be as big as Rachel as a solo singer."

Tina goes hip-hop
Former S Club star Tina Barrett is to do a Victoria Beckham and try her hand at hip-hop. The singer has teamed up with big beat producer DJ Touche to launch her solo career.
DJ Touche, real name Theo Keating, is best known as one half of The Wiseguys - the duo behind the Budweiser TV advert theme tune, Ooh La La.
Tina wants to get away from her squeaky clean pop image. A pal tells The Sun: "She loves hip-hop and big beat and feels she can turn her vocals to anything. Theo is very excited and keen to surprise a lot of people with Tina's new image."
But going hip-hop can be risky. Victoria teamed up with rap mogul Damon Dash to record an album, but Telstar has refused to release it.

Hannah lined up for charity show
She may once have rubbed shoulders with members of the boy band Blue during her days with S Club 7. But Norfolk pop star Hannah Spearritt is being lined up to appear with the boys in blue in a local charity concert.
The Gorleston singer is hoping to head home to take centre stage during the annual Yarmouth Police and Paramedics Charity Show on Friday, 5th December at Vauxhall Holiday Park.
Since S Club split earlier this year, Hannah has turned her attentions towards acting and has recently been busy filming for a leading role in forthcoming Hollywood blockbuster Agent Cody Banks 2.
Last night, her mother Jenny said Hannah was keen to get involved in the concert and would take part if her schedule permitted it.
"It is still too early to say what will happen. I know Hannah would like to take part. But she will only be able to if her schedule allows and we will have to wait and see nearer the time," she said.
The Christmas charity event starts at 7.30pm and will also feature Yarmouth duo U4iA along with members from the police and ambulance service. Proceeds from the event will go to the Caister Lifeboat Fund and Cancer Research.
Tickets, all priced at £5, are available from the Cancer Research Shop in Regent Street, Great Yarmouth.

Rachel's Pretty Folly
Singer Rachel Stevens has got her knickers in a real twist. After signing a £100,000 deal to be the Pretty Polly face of the year she upset her sponsor by being pictured in a rival's undies.
Rachel, 24, posed in Agent Provocateur knickers and a DKNY camisole in the photo-shoot for the November issue of Marie Claire. The magazine stylist who arranged her outfit was unaware of Rachel's deal.
A PP insider said: "It's caused a lot of bad feeling. We want her to make up for it by doing photo shoots for other glossy mags in our gear."

Rachel Breaks into the US Market
Rachel Stevens has broken into the American market. Her track Sweet Dreams My LA Ex is appearing on a new TV ad in the US for a dating agency.
American radio is also interested and it would seem that there is no stopping the lovely ex-S Club singer from world domination.
Her LA Ex track hit the No 2 spot on release in the UK and the American dating show requested the track as its theme tune, complete with Rachel's vocals.
Major US radio stations are now playing the track and Stevens is receiving requests for interviews and promotional visits.
Rachel told Sky News: "I plan to become as big as Madonna and will do anything to achieve my dream. I am a real hard worker."

Jeremy Says Laura's Death Caused Split with Rachel
Jeremy Edwards says the tragic death of co-star Laura Sadler caused his split with fiancée Rachel Stevens. The former Holby City star told Heat magazine he became depressed and began drinking heavily after Laura, 22, fell to her death from a balcony.
Jeremy, 32, said: "It was a tough time for me. After Laura's death I got really messed up. I was drinking a hell of a lot and got seriously depressed.
"It really shook me up. Losing such a close friend pushed me off the rails and sadly Rachel got caught up in my mess. It was at this point she confronted me about my problems and we agreed to have a break."
But during the break Jeremy realised he needed to sort himself out. The pair are back together now but have called off plans to wed.
"There's a lot of bridge-building to do. It's too early to start talking about marriage," he said.

S Club Stalker Jailed
A man who sent threatening e-mails to ex-S Club star Tina Barrett has been sent to prison for six months.
Steven Hindley, 41, also sent her loads of chocolates, flowers and teddy bears. But when the 26-year-old singer didn't reply to any of the messages, he started sending much nastier ones, threatening her life.
He was sending around three e-mails to her from different addresses, as well as claiming to have brain cancer and only three weeks to live. In one he said she would be shot while performing on stage in Canada, while in another he said he was waiting outside her house to hurt her.
Hindley has a kind of autism - which is a type of brain disease - and the magistrate said he had taken that into account when sentencing him.

Rachel's boyfriend
'Gets Funny' Over Sexy Photos
Rachel Stevens says her boyfriend Jeremy Edwards struggles to come to terms with her raunchy photo shoots.
The former S Club singer, who has been voted Britain's sexiest woman in an annual poll for FHM magazine, said the actor was uneasy about seeing her in magazines and billboards in just her underwear.
Stevens, who has a £100,000 deal with Pretty Polly, said: "He does get a bit funny sometimes if he sees a picture like that. He's like 'Just give me a minute'. I guess it's weird seeing your girlfriend in a magazine with not a lot of clothes on.
"So he says 'Let me have a look and let me read it first, on my own, until I give my opinion'. He can't give his opinion when I'm there - he needs time with it."
Stevens recently posed in a selection of Pretty Polly lingerie after being revealed as the company's new face for their autumn/winter 2003 collection.
She insisted the romance with former Holby City star Edwards is "very on". She explained: "It's on. It's very on. We're really cool now. We had a bit of a rough patch but we've worked through it and the relationship's stronger."
Although Stevens claimed she and Edwards had never set a wedding date, she said she hoped to spend the rest of her life with him.

Reach for the States
Former S Club singer Jo O'Meara has signed a solo management deal with pop mogul Simon Fuller in the hope of breaking the lucrative US market.
Twenty-four year old Jo, who took lead vocals on most of S Club's hits, is already said to have been in talks with American song writing legend Richard Carpenter and is looking for a £1million-plus record deal.
A source at Fuller's 19 Management said: "Simon wants to make her the next Christina Aguilera - she's got one of the most powerful voices in pop.
They told The Sun: "She was stunned to find out Richard Carpenter wanted to work with her - she's a massive fan and it was a huge ego boost.
"And working with Richard could really help Jo crack America. He's hugely respected there so she'd get good publicity. It would mean staying in the US for long periods but that hasn't put her off one bit."
Jo is not the first former S Clubber to sign with Fuller. Singer Rachel Stevens recently inked a £1million deal with Polydor Records under the guidance of the pop svengali.

£1m Record Deal for Rachel
Former S Club star, Rachel Stevens has signed a £1 million solo record deal. She is the first member of the act to go it alone with a record career since the group announced they were splitting up in April.

Rachel with Simon
Rachel, 25, has signed up with S Club manager and media mogul Simon Fuller's 19 Entertainment company and Polydor Records, which released her records with the group.
She has picked up a four-album deal and will release her first single, My LA-Ex in September. The track was written by Cathy Dennis, who has penned hits for S Club and Kylie Minogue.
Rachel said: "It's a huge move for me to be going solo but I'm looking forward to the challenge. It's also quite nerve-wracking having been surrounded by my six friends for four years, but I love the new single and other material I'm working on and we're all very supportive of each other."
She added: "I am delighted to be staying with Simon Fuller. Being with the biggest music manager since Brian Epstein with The Beatles brings some phenomenal opportunities and I've always had a great relationship with him and everyone at 19.
"Polydor Records have been committed to me from the start of my career so to stay with the people I trust is really important to me."

Fuller Force of Law
Money is a definite no-go area with S Club svengali Simon Fuller. The entertainment mogul is threatening to sue TV presenter Claudia Winkleman after she asked the now-defunct poppets live on air how much they earned during four arduous years while Simon made a rumoured £50 million.
Simon - who was famously fired by the Spice Girls - didn't like the 31-year-old quizzing the band over the controversial issue of cash and has accused her of being over-aggressive in the interview.

Fuller vs. Claudia
The band announced they were splitting last month and were rumoured to have made only £500,000 each while Simon raked it in.
The interview for BBC's Liquid News show was going smoothly last month when Claudia asked four members of the band - Jo, Bradley, Hannah and Jon - about how they felt. "Let's talk cash and Mr Simon Fuller. Don't look at me like you are angry. He's got £90 million in the bank," Claudia said to the band.
Jo replied: "How much? £90 million now? It was 50 last week."
Bradley then chipped in: "I thought 130." Claudia then replied: "It is 90. There are rumours that you are grumpy because you have not made a mint."
Jon then said: "No. That's not true." Then Jo chimed in: "I think we are all really lucky to be where we are at our age with the bank balances that we have."
A PR then burst in shouting: "I am not having that question answered. We're going." The former chart toppers then followed their fuming promotions girl while poor Claudia was left looking aghast.
"It's such an unbelievable situation. Claudia was doing what any good journalist would do and ask them about the main issue surrounding the band which was the controversy over the money they had earned," says a source.
"She is really stunned to have received a four-page letter from Simon's lawyers. She had every right to ask the band about them being angry over not making more money. They were pathetic over the way they walked off set over it. And now Claudia faces being sued."
The 43-year-old Pop Idol creator is said to be fuming over the incident, but Claudia is taking it all on the chin.

Jez Wants Film Idol
Holby City's Jeremy Edwards is so desperate to make his mark in movies he has signed up to Film Idol. Jezza, engaged to pop singer Rachel Stevens, will take part in the talent contest to fill a movie cast.
Film Idol, organised by Arrival Films, is searching for 2,000 wannabe stars to appear in The Guv'nor - a movie based on the biography of Lenny McLean, which was voted best book of 1998 and became a number one best seller. Whilst this search for Film Idol is in progress, a television documentary will be compiled, containing footage from the Roadshows, promotions, judging, behind the scenes activity and making of The Guv'nor. Bradley Surprises Clubbers
A former member of chart-topping pop group S Club proved there "ain't no party like a Peterborough party" when he paid a surprise visit to a city nightclub.
Bouncers at the city's Park nightclub couldn't believe their eyes when they saw Bradley McIntosh, queuing up to get into the Urban Nation dance night.
The down-to-earth star, who had come to the city after a record company bash in Cambridge on Saturday, happily paid for his ticket to go into the Park Road venue along with three friends.
Head of security Wayne Morris said: "I was really busy when I first saw him, and I'd let him in before it occurred to me exactly who he was."
However, the star's boyish good looks were soon spotted by a DJ and a barman who reported the celebrity sighting to owner Del Singh. The city businessman was delighted to greet the shy singer, who he said insisted that he didn't want any "star" treatment.
Mr Singh said: "I asked if I could have a word with him, and he was very polite and came into my office with one of his friends. "He confirmed who he was, but wanted to play the whole thing down."
"He just wanted to enjoy himself and have a hassle-free night out. I offered him some champagne, but he opted for Red Bull and signed his autograph for my twin daughters who are fans of the group."
He told Mr Singh he had come to Peterborough as he wasn't impressed with the clubs in Cambridge who played mainly dance music and had found out about the venue from two Americans he had met earlier that day.
Mr Singh said: "It was very flattering that he chose the Park and he was so down to earth. We've had a few celebrity guests in the past, but they usually telephone first."
Bradley then spent the rest of the night in the club, and chatted to astonished revellers.
Mr Singh added that before the singer left he told him there was a strong chance he would return, and would like to play a DJ set at the venue.
Bradley was unfortunately unavailable for comment.

Beach Club Heaven
Pop star Rachel Stevens put the trauma of S Club's break-up behind her yesterday as she hit the beach with her fiance, Holby City heart-throb Jeremy Edwards.
Rachel, 25, who was named the sexiest woman in Britain by FHM magazine last week, is spending a few days with Jeremy at a luxury hotel on Spain's Costa del Sol.
After S Club split, Rachel admitted: "I was very emotional. We'd been through a lot together. Jeremy has been brilliant. He really supported me and got me through it."
The medicine seemed to be working yesterday as one sunbather said: "Rachel and Jeremy were in a good mood and were more than happy to sign a few autographs. It was nice to see them looking so relaxed. They spent the whole time just soaking up the sun." He added: "Rachel's a very, very sexy lady and she looked sensational in her bikini."

Hollywood break for Hannah
Hannah Spearritt has clinched a leading role in a Hollywood blockbuster. The 22-year-old former S Club singer has signed a deal with movie bosses to play a sexy undercover agent in a James Bond spoof for kids.
Hannah has just begun eight weeks of filming on the movie sequel Agent Cody Banks 2 at Elstree Studios in Hertfordshire.
The first instalment - appropriately called Agent Cody Banks - is wowing large audiences in America and is due to be released here in August.
Hannah is to appear alongside Frankie Muniz, star of hit TV show Malcolm in the Middle.
Yesterday, her mother Jenny Spearritt said Hannah was delighted to have clinched her first big Hollywood break.
"We are thrilled. Hannah has always wanted to pursue an acting career and we are hoping this might lead to more Hollywood offers in the future," she said.
"It has all happened quite out of the blue. She only finished work with S Club last Saturday and started work on the film set last Tuesday.
"She has won the main girl's part in the film and will play an undercover agent. She will be away filming for about eight weeks, but still regularly keeps in contact."
She added: "I am not sure if there are action scenes involved in the film, but I think Hannah would be keen to get involved if there were any."
At a recent awards ceremony, Hannah's co-star Frankie Muniz revealed changes from the line-up of the original film, which starred American actress Hilary Duff.
He is reported to have said that in the sequel: "There will be a new girl, of course. It's James Bond." And it seems that new girl is Hannah.
The first film sees shy Seattle teenager Cody Banks, played by Muniz, become an undercover agent for the CIA. He is called to save the day after a top American scientist, who has been recruited by a notorious international arms dealer, attempts to take over the world.

S Club have missed out on number one by the tightest of margins with their last ever single, Say Goodbye/Love Ain't Gonna Wait For You, that went straight in at two in the UK singles chart. US star R Kelly held onto the top spot for a fourth week with Ignition Remix, battling off S Club and other big new entries.
S Club's new album BeSt, released this week, looks likely to enter the album charts at number two.

Brad told the Mirror: "We shouldn't have split up but it was just one of those things. I'm missing it already. I would jump at the chance to get back together. Hopefully one day we will."

Rachel Goes House Hunting
Former S Club beauty Rachel Stevens has started house hunting with her long-term boyfriend Jeremy Edwards.
The pretty pair are engaged to be married and are now looking for their first home together in London's glamorous Belsize Park or Hampstead areas - where it is unlikely they will find anything for less than £1 million.
Rachel told Britain's Daily Star, "We're looking at houses and we want to buy around Belsize Park and Hampstead. It'll be our first place together. It's a lovely area and we can't wait to move in somewhere."
"It is a very big step but we're ready to take it. We both live in flats at the moment so we're definitely after a house with a bit more space."

Sob Club
S Club said a tearful farewell to their fans yesterday in their last live performance. The band made their final broadcast on a special edition of BBC's The Saturday Show, filmed in Glasgow.
Playing their latest song, Say Goodbye, which will be released tomorrow, they choked back tears as they performed in front of hundreds of screaming fans.
After being presented with bouquets yesterday, Rachel and Jo, who was overcome with emotion, could be seen wiping their eyes.
Earlier, they all said how they would miss performing in the group, which is being disbanded to allow the S Club Juniors to take over.
Bradley said: "The hardest thing will be missing all these guys. It's been fun."
Jon added: "Like one big family, we have been all over the world and had a great time."
However, Jo insisted they would all keep in touch, and Rachel said: "I was so excited when I got into the band. It's been great."

S Club Storm Out of Interview
Pop sensation S Club stormed out of a BBC interview tonight after being quizzed on whether they were happy with the money they had earned, a spokeswoman for the Corporation said.
Four members of the band who were recording a chat on BBC3 Liquid News walked out after the interviewer asked about the millions their driving force and pop mogul, Simon Fuller, had made.
They left after a promotions woman who was with the band burst in to the interview asking for it to be stopped, the BBC spokeswoman said.
S Club last month announced they were to split but were rumoured to have only earned around £500,000 each from their highly successful four-year careers.
Band members Bradley, Jon, Hannah and Jo took part in the interview with Liquid News presenter Claudia Winkleman. But just a couple of minutes in and Claudia struck a bum note when she said: "Lets talk cash. Mr Simon Fuller. Don't look at me like you are angry. He's got 90 million in the bank."
Jo said: "How much? 90 million now? It was 50 last week."
Bradley added: "I thought 130."
Claudia: "It is 90. There are rumours that you are grumpy because you have not made a mint."
Jon: "No That's not true."
Bradley: "I'd love to have a mint for my breath."
Jo: "I think we are all really, really lucky to be where we are today at our age and to have the bank balances that we do have."
The BBC said at this point the promotions woman walked in and asked: "Can you not talk about that please? I am not having that question asked. I tried to stop the interview; I've had to walk in here. We're going."
The band members then started to follow after Jo said: "I think we should go." As Bradley walked out he added: "In five years this is the first time that this has happened."
No one from the band or promoters was available for comment this evening.

S Club Dad in Fight for Fortune
While generating a £50million fortune for pop Svengali Simon Fuller, S Club have only taken home around £100,000 a year since they've been together. Now some of their parents believe that Fuller has taken advantage of the youngsters' naivety and ambition by tying them up in legal contracts.
The father of S Club star Hannah Spearritt has instructed lawyers to find out if the band got a fair share of the multi-million-pound fortune they have made. Experts are combing through a mountain of legal contracts and accounts to establish why the band members have made so little.
Hannah's father Michael said: "It's outrageous that these children have been phenomenally successful yet earned so little. It looks like there is only one place this will end - and that is in the courts." Paul March, of London-based lawyers Clintons, said: "It is extraordinary to have a commercial contract where the management is out-earning the band to this ratio."
Hannah's parents have hired lawyers to chase payments and have also employed an independent auditor to examine all six of the complex legal contracts the youngsters signed.
Mr Spearritt said: "Simon Fuller should be ashamed of himself for taking advantage of these youngsters. I am certain that he has not done anything illegal but it just seems so unfair."
S Club's movie, Seeing Double, was launched earlier this month. But Fuller didn't even attend the premiere. A source close to the group said: "That really hurt them. They had worked so hard on the film. It's as if he has made his money from them and has got his fingers in bigger pies now."
The group and their worried parents had already held three crunch meetings with Fuller to try to sort out their differences, but Fuller always had an answer for everything. A source told how the relationship between S Club and Fuller reached such a low that he stormed out of one of the meetings in tears.
"When they brought up the subject of money and their single, You, which they didn't want to release, he put his foot down. He said, 'What do you know about this bloody business? I could put cardboard cut-outs of you on the stage and it wouldn't make any difference'."
The source added: "I thought some of the band were going to walk out there and then. The only reason the band stayed together is that he offered some more money and promised to open doors for them when it came to launching solo careers."
After being dumped by the Spice Girls six years ago Fuller made sure his new group were on watertight legal contracts. According to Mr Spearritt, he was suspicious from the start about Fuller's motives. "I was sceptical but I felt he was offering Hannah, who was then only 16, a fantastic opportunity. I remember the first time I met him, I jokingly asked when they were going to be millionaires. He said very seriously, 'Well, that would be seven million. I would need another million - so they would need to earn £8million. And of course they'd have to crack America'. I was a bit concerned about his attitude but let it lie."
Hannah's parents' concerns grew when they learned of how Hannah and the others were being treated. Hannah's mum Jenny said: "When they went away to Miami and Los Angeles to film their TV shows, it was very exciting. But he worked them very hard. On top of 18-hour days filming and rehearsing, they then had to go back to their apartments and do their own cooking and washing. I couldn't believe they didn't have someone to help them with household tasks like that."
By the end of the fourth series Hannah and the other band members had made just £35,000 each. They were paid the Equity rate of £6,000 for each series plus a profit-share bonus of £11,000, according to Hannah's father.
Mr Spearritt said: "Simon told us we would be making more money by the fourth TV series, but we haven't made any. No one has been able to explain to me why the band earned so little from such a successful TV show. Simon was taking 51 per cent from merchandising deals and each band member got 7 per cent each."
One of the final straws came when band members were only given 50 free tickets each for their recent 20-date tour. "It sounds like quite a petty thing but it just illustrated that they weren't seen as the stars of the show but as puppets," Mr Spearritt said.
Fuller refused to comment.

S Club Stars Reveal Solo Plans
S Club singers Rachel Stevens and Jo O'Meara have said they want to pursue their own music careers following the announcement of the group's split. In a TV interview Stevens, 25, said she would "love to go solo", while O'Meara, 23, said: "I would like to go solo, definitely."
The pair told GMTV there would be no competition between the two of them as solo performers.
Jo said she would not let the pain of a debilitating back condition get in the way of her career. "With the stuff that I would like to do afterwards, it doesn't involve dancing anyway," she said. "It's a different thing, it's not very poppy. It's kind of country, Karen Carpenter-y."
The band denied there had been any acrimony in their split.
Hannah Spearritt, 22, who intends to pursue acting, said: "It's like any job, you come to the end when you just want to move on to something else. We're not fed up of each other, even though we're really looking forward to being on our own, and we're going out while we still enjoy it, because we are still enjoying it now, we don't want it to get to that eggy stage. And that's the really nice thing, that we're all really good friends, so there's no animosity."
Rachel, who insists no date has been set for her marriage to Holby City heart-throb Jeremy Edwards, said about the announcement of the split: "We were all so nervous, it was just not knowing how the fans were going to react."
Tina Barrett, 26, said she wanted to have a go at music, writing and acting, Jon Lee, 20, said he would like to go into the theatre, while Bradley McIntosh, 21, said he was concentrating on publishing and writing.
The interview was being broadcast on GMTV this morning.

Acting Career for Hannah
Norfolk's pop pin-up Hannah Spearritt will be swapping her music career for a new life as an actor, her mother revealed to the EDP last night. The announcement came less than 24 hours after S Club announced to stunned fans at London's Docklands Arena that the band is to split in May.
Hannah's mother, Jenny, who has been privy to the group's decision for some time, said S Club members had simply decided it was time to move on. While lead singer Rachel Stevens would be pursuing a solo career, Hannah, 22, would be returning to her first love, acting.
Mrs Spearritt, speaking from the family home at Gorleston, said: "It was a fluke really she got in the band. It was a friend who told her about the audition."
Before that, Hannah had always shone at acting, taking the title role in Lowestoft Players' performance of Annie, and being accepted into the acclaimed National Youth Music Theatre.
Mrs Spearritt said: "After nearly five years in the band, Hannah was mature enough to realise she wanted to make her own decisions and stand on her own two feet. But she would never regret her time with S Club. If that had been the case she could have left earlier like Paul did last year. She has enjoyed all the opportunities that have come her way and the places she has experienced. It has been very positive for her and she has grown from it."
What heartened Mrs Spearritt most was how friends still commented that fame had not spoiled Hannah - she was still "down-to-earth with no airs and graces".
During the turbulent years of pop stardom, Hannah will undoubtedly have been able to draw strength from the determination of big sister Tanya, 29. Once destined for a successful modelling career, she has been courageously battling a back injury for two years following an operation on a prolapsed disc.
Mrs Spearritt said Hannah had decided to take on acting agents in London and the US, but she could not comment on whether there were already projects in the pipeline.
Mrs Spearritt said: "It is a lovely way for the group to go out - at the top and all still friendly."
Daphne King, who worked with a teenage Hannah in East Norfolk Youth Choir at Yarmouth College, pointed to the fast-moving nature of the pop industry as a clue to the short shelf life of bands.
Mrs King, the college's vice-principal, said: "It is the nature of the industry that bands won't survive long term, with a few exceptions such as U2. But I would tend to look at the positive side. After the long hours and gruelling schedules of being in a successful group, Hannah will be able to cope with anything. The life skills she has learned will take her to places others will never go."
Mrs King said she would not discourage students from trying to emulate Hannah's success. "If you have a dream and ambition, you will work with the pressures," she said.

Rachel Trashed by Dad
Rachel Stevens came under extraordinary fire yesterday - from her own dad. Michael Stevens predicted the singer's marriage next month to Holby City actor Jeremy Edwards would not last. And he said shockingly: "She's a total a******e and I don't care if I never see her again. She's a stunningly beautiful girl - that's about all she is. She's so selfish. She's 'I want, I want.' "

Dad: Michael Stevens
Stevens, 56, has been estranged from 25-year-old Rachel for a year and has not been invited to her wedding in Scotland. In his astonishing outburst after S Club announced it was to split, he claimed Rachel and Jeremy were incompatible. "I hope they don't get married," he said.
"She's not really for him. They're not suited - when I knew them they were always rowing and bickering and God knows what else." Furious Stevens then launched into a tirade on how Rachel couldn't be bothered to open a ladies' clothing boutique he runs in Edgware, North London. "Posh Spice did it for her sister," he said.
It is not the first time that Stevens has embarrassed his chart-topping daughter. Three years ago she fell out with him after he published a guide to London's best prostitutes and set up a lapdance-in-a-limousine service.
Stevens added: "I got rid of my limousine business for her because she asked me to. But I've had enough." He last saw his daughter at a concert last year. He said: "She broke down in tears. I know she loves me but I am very stubborn. "I could say she's wonderful and fantastic but she's not."
Stevens and Rachel's mother Linda divorced when she was 17 and both have since remarried.
Aides close to Rachel chose not to break the news of her father's onslaught before she went on stage last night as part of the S Club United tour.
Her publicist Jo Milloy said: "We have no comment to make."
Rachel is now being tipped for a solo career. Dad, it seems certain, won't be involved.

Who Got All The Money?
Pop svengali Simon Fuller has raked in a staggering £50million from S Club - almost 100 times more than the band members themselves have made. Rachel, Hannah, Tina, Jo, Bradley and Jon have been paid a pittance in wages compared with the barrowloads of cash that have gone to Fuller's company 19 Management.
While the firm rakes in money from merchandising, sponsorship deals, record sales, TV shows and touring, the band members have netted a total of around £590,000 each for four years of gruelling work. For two years the band, formed at the end of 1998, were on salaries of £90,000, which doubled in 2001. That gave them earnings of £540,000 and they have each earned £50,000 this year, making £590,000 in total.
A source close to the band said last night: "It is scandalous what these kids are earning compared to the sort of business they are generating. Their wages may seem big to a lot of people but it's nothing to what Simon Fuller was making. Let's not forget the kids in S Club have very little time off and regularly work 18-hour days. Pop music may seem glamorous but it is far from that.
S Club's movie Seeing Double is sure to make lots more money with fans flocking to see it in their thousands. So these are profitable times for 19 Management, who also look after Gareth Gates, Will Young and Emma Bunton.
But Simon has pocketed around £15million to add to his personal fortune of £110million. He has made his money almost entirely with manufactured pop. The Spice Girls, Pop Idol, S Club and American Idol have all contributed to his earnings. He is currently remaking Sixties TV show The Monkees.
He has homes in Bel Air, California and trendy Richmond in London, drives a £100,000 Mercedes, wears designer clothes and holidays in his villa in the south of France.
He created S Club 7 from thousands of hopefuls and made them sign binding contracts. They have earned a pittance compared with other stars. Members of Westlife and The Corrs each get paid an estimated £1.5million a year.

S Club's Announcement
S Club announced their split on stage during a concert at London's Docklands Arena on Monday night. Here's what they said:
Tina: "Okay, we've all been together for 4 years and we've had the most amazing time. So tonight we've got some good news and a little bit of bad news."
Hannah: "The bit of bad news is something that has been in the papers a lot recently. But we felt it was very important that we told you here tonight from us. Tonight we are here to announce - it's a little bit sad, but we will be splitting. But don't panic guys, please don't panic - it's not just yet."
Rachel: "The good news is that we're still together for another month yet, and the S Club Juniors are still here, staying together, and they're gonna carry on the S Club name."

Och aye do for Rachel
S Club singer will wed at Scots castle
She vowed she wouldn't have a grand, glitzy wedding, but S Club's Rachel Stevens is having exactly that when she marries Jeremy Edwards next month.
The couple, who met on a blind date, got engaged last year and have kept the date of their big day under wraps. But The Mirror now reveals that the gorgeous singer and her Holby City fiance will tie the knot on May 16 in front of about 50 family and friends.
Last year Rachel, 25, declared: "I don't want a massive occasion - I don't need to hold it at a castle like Paul McCartney and Heather Mills." Hmm... so where is the venue for their nuptials? Why, the very noble 14th-century, 26-acre Kinfauns Castle in Perthshire.
"They've had it booked for more than a year," a friend of Rachel told The Mirror last night. "It's a stunning place and very secluded, so they'll be guaranteed total privacy on the day. They both want it to be a small, intimate ceremony with just the people that matter to them. They're both counting the days."
Jeremy, 32, got down on bended knee on Valentine's Day 2002. At the time Rachel said: "We're not rushing into anything. When you start the ball rolling to plan a wedding it takes up such a lot of your time - which neither of us have right now."
It is believed her bandmates Jo O'Meara, Tina Barrett, Hannah Spearritt, Jon Lee and Bradley McIntosh will be there, as will former member Paul Cattermole.

Jo Used Film Body Double
Jo has revealed that she had a body double in the band's new movie, Seeing Double.
But don't worry folks, it's not 'cos she has to get her kit off, it's 'cos of her back condition that has left Jo unable to perform on stage with the rest of her S Club troupe.
Speaking to New magazine, she reveals that there are some scenes in the film that were played by her stand-in.
"There are certain bits in the film when it's not actually me - I actually had a Jo double! And I couldn't do some scenes that involved jumping off things. It was hard for the make-up artist to make my double look like me, as I'm covered in tattoos."

Tina Wows Premiere
in 'Barely-there' Dress
Tina Barrett drew gasps from the crowd at the premiere of the band's new movie tonight when she turned up in a barely-there dress. The brunette made her dramatic entrance in a stunning red dress by designer Scott Henshall.
The floor-length gown consisted of only a wisp of chiffon held together with gold clasps and was kept in place with the aid of some strategic sticky tape.
Tina, 26, shivered in the cold outside the Warner cinema in London's Leicester Square. "I'm so cold," she admitted, adding, "It took me 15 minutes to get into this dress because it's so tricky to wear."
S Club were out for the premiere of Seeing Double, which marks their movie debut. Set in Spain and LA, the plot revolves around a mad scientist who creates evil clones of the band in a bid to take over the world.
The group - Tina, Hannah Spearritt, 22, Jo O'Meara, 23, Rachel Stevens, 24, Jon Lee, 20 and Bradley McIntosh, 21 - were recently rumoured to be on the verge of a split.
Tonight they put on a united front and Rachel, there with actor fiance Jeremy Edwards, insisted there were no plans to break up. But when Tina was asked if the group plan to stay together, she replied: "We're here for now."
Other stars at the premiere included Emma Bunton, Will Young and S Club Juniors. Gareth Gates, who has a small role in the film, joined S Club on a 20-minute walkabout to greet the 1,500 screaming fans outside the cinema.
Also there was Paul Cattermole, who left the group after five years to start up a rock band.

No Gazza-snogging For Jo
S Club star Jo O'Meara's a fussy lass, isn't she? When asked to choose between Gareth Gates and Eminem, Jo said she didn't fancy either! "I wouldn't snog either of them," she told Smash Hits. "Snogging Gareth would be like snogging a little boy and if I snogged Eminem he'd probably cut my head off with a chainsaw! I'll say no to both."

Jo has scrap over tea!
Jo O'Meara has revealed that relations between the band were strained while they were shooting their film, Seeing Double.
In fact, homesickness and a tiring schedule wore them down so much that she apparently ended up scrapping with Rachel over the smallest things.
"Me and Rachel had such a row once over her making herself a cup of tea and not making me one," the blonde beauty told Top Of The Pops. "We ended up laughing over it, but when we're on the road and we're working so blimmin' hard, we get ratty because we're tired and homesick, so we end up screaming at each other! But you've got to have that to have a good working relationship."

The S Club Double Act
S Club are about to make the move from small screen to big screen in their feature film debut, Seeing Double. But while they are old hands at performing in front of cameras, they say they still found making the film a nerve-wracking experience.
"It's the excitement of it being a movie," explains Rachel Stevens. "Everything's bigger than on the TV series and there's the pressure of knowing it's going to be in cinemas across the country."
"It's knowing we're going to be up there on the big screen as well," adds Jon Lee. "It's actually quite daunting. We're quite nervous about how we're going to look."
The band members found working on the film stretched their acting muscles much more as well.
"It's made us more conscious about our acting," says Bradley McIntosh. "On the TV show sometimes we'd exaggerate our expressions a bit but we couldn't do all that on the film. We've learnt a lot."
Hannah Spearritt adds: "If something went wrong with one episode of the TV series we could just think, 'It's fine, there's always the next one,' but because this is just one movie we wanted everything to go well. There was more pressure definitely."
Fans of the band will get two sets of S Clubbers for the price of one ticket when they go to see the film. But don't worry, this doesn't mean there is a surprise appearance from S Club Juniors.
Instead the tongue-in-cheek plot has the band, who are also made up of lead vocalist Jo O'Meara and Tina Barrett, growing tired of their relentless schedule and demanding some time off from their manager. But while they're taking a well-deserved break in Spain, they see themselves on television, performing live in Los Angeles.
It turns out the band have been cloned by the evil 'Clonemaster' as he plans to take over the minds of the world's youth by cloning and controlling pop acts. The band admit the storyline is a sly dig at themselves for being a manufactured band.
"It's taking the mick out of the whole music industry really," says Tina. "But it's all in fun."
Despite four years of success that has brought with it an unrelenting schedule, the young singers say they have never wished to be cloned themselves as they enjoy their jobs immensely.
"Last Christmas we had a month off and it was the weirdest thing," says Bradley. "We've been working constantly for about five years so, though we've had little breaks here and there, getting a month off was strange. I woke up a lot of days and didn't really want to be sitting around doing nothing. I wanted to be at work because I couldn't take it. I've got a studio so I'd be writing music but it was weird not having work to do."
Despite the band talking enthusiastically about their jobs, there has been plenty of speculation over the past few months that they are about to split up. But the band themselves are adamant that their future, the near future anyway, is with S Club.
"At the moment we're still together and we've got loads of things coming up," says Rachel. "We've got the tour coming up and a single out in the middle of May, which is a cool, retro track."
"When the fans don't like us anymore then it might happen," adds Hannah. "Or when we want to do something else. There will come a point when we do want to move on."
"But who knows when that will happen?" continues Stevens. "We've got loads of stuff going on at the moment."

Jon's S Clubbing together
Bradley McIntosh, Hannah Spearritt, Jo O'Meara, Jon Lee, Rachel Stevens and Tina Barrett have a busy month ahead. On April 7 the S Clubbers will be attending the glitzy premiere of their debut movie, Seeing Double, and kicking off their UK tour with S Club Juniors in the same week.
Jon said: "I love performing live on tour, we all do. The crowds are always brilliant and really supportive. It's great to be able to perform at different venues across the UK, the fans are equally as mad. I think this is our best tour yet, there's lots of dancing, singing and a few surprises too - but you'll have to wait and see. On average we rehearse for about eight hours a day - it's exhausting, but really good fun!"
It will be the group's first concert dates without original bandmate Paul Cattermole who performed his farewell gig at the Queen's Jubilee concert party at the Palace. The 26-year-old left to re-enlist in his old nu-metal band. Since his departure the remaining six are now known as simply, S Club.
In their new movie, Seeing Double, the band are cloned by an evil scientist. Jon said: "Our film's out on April 11. We're excited, but at the same time really nervous - we just hope our fans enjoy it. Lot of famous lookalikes appeared in the movie - Michael Jackson, Posh Spice, Madonna and Elton John. Elton John's lookalike was spot on."
But Jon thinks it highly unlikely that the film will be nominated for an Oscar. He said: "Watch out Daniel Day-Lewis! No I doubt that very much. It was just a fun film, it's good - but it's hardly the next Titanic."
Jon celebrates his 21st birthday on April 26, the day after the tour finishes, but he has not planned a party just yet. He said: "The movie and tour will be taking up all of our time until May, then we'll start promoting our next single."
S Club's new single Love Ain't Gonna Wait For You will be released later this spring.

"We're not splitting" says Rachel
S Club star Rachel has put an end to rumours that the group is breaking up, saying "for now we are really together".
Speaking at a press conference to promote their upcoming film Seeing Double, she added: "I think when the time comes it will be because we have decided we want to move on and do different things. But at the moment everything is cool and we are really happy."
In Seeing Double, S Club take on an evil genius who has made clones of them. Lots of the group's hits are in the film, but Jo had to miss out on the dance routines because she is still suffering from a bad back. "I have my good days and my painful days but I'm still smiling", she said after hobbling into the press conference.
The group said they stay in touch with Paul, who quit the band to go back to nu-metal style group he was in before S Club hit the big time. Bradley said that Paul - who goes out with ex-band mate Hannah - often dropped into rehearsals to see his old pals.
Pop Idol loser Gareth Gates makes a guest appearance in Seeing Double and Rachel gets to smooch with him. She says her boyfriend, Casualty star Jeremy Edwards, wasn't bothered about the scene: "He was cool with it. We didn't do a full on kiss."
Rachel did have to kiss Bradley though, something they both found embarrassing, and despite Bradley's cool image, Rachel wasn't impressed. "I'd give him six out of 10," she laughed.

Jo's Painkiller Hell
S Club star Jo O'Meara is attempting to wean herself off addictive painkillers - after suffering terrible pain with an injured back.
The blonde star has been out of action for some months, and has been taking Valium for her condition - which has deteriorated to the point she will never be able to perform the energetic dance moves she has become famed for.
She says, "There's a disintegrated disc in my spine and it limits me from doing stuff I want to do. I've been told I may not be able to work like I used to. The old dance routines are probably going to be a bit much for me."
Now Jo has turned for professional help in an attempt to come off the painkillers. She adds, "I am having therapy twice a week. I've tried to come off the painkillers because I've been on loads and I don't like being on so many but it was unbearable pain. I'm off Valium now but I was on it a long time. I've been on so many painkillers."
O'Meara put on nearly twenty kilograms during her illness leading people to believe she was pregnant, but she says her wait gain is more simple - she's eating a lot of chocolate.
"People thought I was pregnant. I have gone from seven stone to ten stone but it is because of giant Galaxy bars. There are so many stories in the papers that I'm refusing to perform with the band because of the baby's health. I'm not pregnant - I'm just fat."

Jo's Gambling Habit
Jo O'Meara has a gambling habit that has seen her spend thousands of pounds on fruit machines. The S Club star goes to her local bingo club up to four times a week and spends hours on jackpot machines.
This week alone she has been to the Gala Bingo hall in Barkingside, Essex, three times - Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. She has also gambled on at least eight other visits in the past three weeks - and usually on her favourite £500 jackpot machine.
The singer has gambled away at least £4,500 but claims to have scooped nine jackpot wins on the machine - and insists she is close to breaking even. A spokesman for Jo last night admitted the star did gamble but insisted she wasn't an addict.
Jo says: "My back's not too good so gambling is all I can do. I come as much as I can; quite a few times each week. "It's my only release and it's an outlet for me. I play on the fruit machine that pays out a £500 jackpot. "I have already won the £500 prize nine times. I think I've just about broken even."
The singer's spokesman says: "Jo enjoys going to bingo, particularly at the moment while she is unable to do other activities due to her back problem."
