Jon
and
Hannah
How do the S Clubbers cope with only two of them to handle our tough Interrogates challenge? HANNAH and JON, step up and bite the bullet
Hannah, explain the dating rumours about Paul Dalglish from Norwich City and the fact you've been quoted as supporting Ipswich Town and Liverpool?
Hannah: What's going on? A misunderstanding is what's going on here. Um, people reading into things when there's nothing to read. There's nothing going on with me and Paul Dalglish whatsoever. I went to see a Norwich and Villa match, and obviously cos I'm from Yarmouth I'm gonna be cheering Norwich on.
But aren't your family Ipswich fans?
Hannah: Well, my uncle used to play for Ipswich. I'm not a dedicated Norwich fan, but if I go and see a Norwich match, I'm gonna be supporting them. But it's not like I'm a dedicated Norwich fan, which is what I have been accused for. The bottom line is I'm a Liverpool fan.
Why does Jo always seem to sing lead vocals?
Jon: We've all recorded loads of solo songs and tracks and stuff like that. It just happens that the songs Jo has sung are the strongest or have been right for an album or right for a single release. It's nothing more than that.
You tend to mime a lot, though.
Jon: Normally it's because our dance routines are so full-on. It's not that we can't sing!
Hannah: We haven't had a chance to tour yet because of the TV programme. We spend so much time filming; it's really just a time issue. Next year we're gonna tour around September - then you'll see whether we can sing or not.
Why do pop stars always moan about the long hours and being tired? Don't they realise they have the best job in the whole world?
Hannah: We do do long hours, you know. Longer hours than a normal job. It's not a 9 to 5 job. Like we've done video shoots before and been up for 18 hours. They are long days! We can have a little moan if we want.
Jon: We're allowed to moan. If we're tired, we're tired.
Be honest, how threatened do you feel by the new S Club TV personalities?
Jon: Not one little bit cos they're nothing to do with S Club 7. We're a pop group and they're TV presenters. They're lovely actually.
Alright, next one's for Jon. The obsession with Celine Dion: discuss.
Jon: Discuss? I think she has one of the greatest voices, um, of the last decade and I think she's fantastic. I don't care if it's not cool to like her. I don't listen too her cos I think she's cool, I listen to her cos I like her voice and her music. That's all that matters at the end of the day.
Why don't you S Clubbers write more of your own songs?
Jon: We are, actually, on the third album. I'm going into the studio on Sunday and I've been in the studio the last three Sundays, writing with various different producers.
Hannah: We're all going in. We'll all be doing stuff.
What's your reply to people who say that you're not a proper band?
Hannah: Well we don't play guitars… We're just different. I mean, all bands are different.
Jon: What is a band?
Hannah: Exactly! What is a band? You know, we create music and perform it. It's just aimed at a different market and we're covering a certain market which is different from, like, guitary bands.
Jon: I can play the piano, Paul can strum a tune or two on the guitar - so we can play.
So, have you had many arguments with each other?
Jon: We've had rows and stuff.
Hannah: We've had rows. Not at all often, though. I think we've had one pretty harsh row but that was quite a while ago. I think spending too much time together can get to you. But generally it's really good - we have a laugh.
Are you as squeaky-clean as you seem?
Jon: No.
Hannah: We're just normal, just like any normal 18- or 19-year-old guy or girl would be. You know, we're not mad, but we're obviously not going to do stupid things as we're in the public eye.
Jon: It's just the way we come across. People see us singing and dancing, smiling and posing for photographs, things like that. We're not really the same, I mean, we are the same, but obviously we do different things out of work. We can raise hell with the best of them.
Have any of you ever dated each other?
Hannah: No.
Jon: There's always lots of talk in the press about everything. They've gotta write something. And because at the very beginning you didn't see us out doing the mad stupid things people our age do, that was kind of the obvious thing.
Have you ever lied about your ages?
Jon: No.
Hannah: Hmm, well I used to. Just to be able to go out to bars and stuff.
Be honest: do you think the jokes in LA7 are funny?
Jon: Well, some of them.
Hannah: Yeah, some of them - not all of them.
Jon: Some of them are funnier when you're actually filming it than when they come across on TV. Cos you know, some things we'll find hilarious, but they won't be funny at all. It's only cos we know each other we'll see the funny side.
Finally, have you lied in this interview?
Both: No!
Jon: Yeah actually, this is one of the few interviews we haven't. Ha-ha!
Hannah: We always lie, but this time we haven't.
