S Club's School Days

It's that time of year again that we all dread. Yep, the school bell is about to ring on another new term and that means the summer holidays are definitely over. But don't get too down. We've asked those rays of sunshine from S Club to brighten up the return to class. Check out how Rachel, Bradley and co got through what only old people say are 'the best days of your life'.

What were you like at school?

Bradley: 'I was bad at school. Nobody should take after me because I was just silly. I never used to concentrate in class. I was like the class clown. Me and my friends used to get in trouble by doing anything destructive and bad. We were a right bunch of rebels!'

Rachel: 'I was quite cheeky, but I never got in trouble. I'd joke about with the teachers and was quite mischievous, too. I used to love school. It was just such a laugh. I really enjoyed lessons like art, drama and music, and just being with my m8s.'

Tina: 'I wasn't the hell raiser, the rebel without a cause, but then I wasn't the class boffin either. I loved anything arty at school, but I used to get in trouble for skiving off school. That was very naughty of me and is not advised for all you out there!'

Jon: 'I was always quite good at school, actually. I got on really well with my teachers. I was the cheeky one that got away with everything and my best friend was the bad guy that got blamed for everything. It was really handy. When I did something naughty, he would be with me and get the blame for it. I wasn't much of a friend when you think about it!'

Jo: 'I was good at school. I loved history and English, but I wasn't too good at maths as I'm mathematically dyslexic.'

What was your favourite subject?

Jon: 'My favourite subject at school was art, just because it was an excuse for me to throw paint all over the place. As I got older, English was always my favourite.'

What did you want to do when you left school?

Jo: 'I think it changed every week. At one time, I wanted to be an airhostess, then a vet, a nurse, and then a majorette. The list went on! I never wanted to be famous or be a singer, which is kind of peculiar that I'm in S Club today. I'm totally surprised that I went into the musical path, but I always remember that my gran used to make me get up and sing. She'd tell me that I was going to go far and I never used to believe her, but she was right.'

Tina: 'I always wanted to be a performer. My main ambition was to be a dancer. I went to a stage school and I got to do loads of plays and shows. I did lots of posh shows in the West End, like operas and a few pantomimes, too. I was never the back end of the donkey, but not far off!'

Bradley: 'I do remember wanting to be an astronaut and have my own spaceship. Saving the world from aliens and that kind of stuff. I always wanted to get into the music scene. I come from quite a musical background and I've been doing it from quite an early age. It's such a hard industry to get into.'

Jon: 'I always wanted to be a pop singer. Luckily, my wish came true. Apart from that, I really wanted to be a vet and look after animals. But then I saw how long you had to study for and it scared me.'

What kind of hairstyle did you have at school?

Jon: 'I always had a mop, but if it was a special occasion then it would be swept over to one side with a nice little side parting. It was so embarrassing! I do remember once when I cut my sisters' hair and my mum went barmy. As it grew back. we started cutting all the hair off her dolls, thinking that it would just grow back. Obviously it didn't and we ended up with a bunch of bald dolls.'

Rachel: 'I remember this one time when I cut my own hair. I went downstairs and got a pair of scissors and just cut it all off. My mum wasn't too happy. Then I had this awful perm that just looked like a poodle!'
