The Snow Must Go On!

Paul skis backwards, Rachel still wants to strip off and Brad wants Gucci earmuffs. Brrr, it must be winter...

What was your best winter ever?

Bradley: We used to go down the park with our sleds. We'd ride 'em for hours and have ace snow fights.

Hannah: When I was 16, I spent Christmas in London with five really good friends. It was so magical, London is lovely at Christmas.

Rachel: Every winter is the best. I love the smell of Christmas - that's what reminds me of winter. That and just doing the whole family thing.

Tina: The best Christmas I had was with Lionel Blair. I was a dancer and we had so much fun.

Did you build snowmen when you were little?

Bradley: We tried, really hard, but we were never that good at it...

Rachel: We used to build them all the time 'cos you'd see them doing it in the movies.

Jon: I used to live near my primary school so, in the winter, my sister and I would go over the back field and build snowmen.

Bradley: Ours was just a lump, with a couple of eyes and a banana or carrot for nose.

Hannah: We'd spend ages making the body sections and I always wanted to make it as big as I could, even though I couldn't lift it.

Paul: I did the traditional thing, y'know, bits of coal for the eyes and a carrot for the nose.

Did you ever move the carrot from his nose and put it in, ahem, amusing locations?

Paul: (Giggling) No, that'd be naughty.

Hannah: Ooh, that would be naughty!

Jon: (Laughing) I was quite young when I was building snowmen so I didn't, no. I only ever built them with my sister and she's even younger than me, so if she did it she'd get a smack.

Bradley: (Grinning) Yep, we tried all of that. But that's just little boys being little boys, innit?

Did you ever used to make yellow snow?

Girls: Euugh! That's disgusting.

Jon: (Sheepishly) Yeah...

Have you ever experienced a white Christmas?

Jon: When I was eight and living in Devon. My little dogs were jumping all over the place in the snow. It was so nice, I love white Christmases.

Bradley: Almost There have been years when it's snowed a day or two before Christmas, but then on the day it was just ice. So if you can call that white, then yeah.

Rachel: More of an off-white...

What is your ideal winter outfit?

Paul: A huge woolly hat, a scarf and a nice, big, cosy puffa jacket.

Hannah: I've got these trousers that feel like you've got a blanket round each leg. They're gorgeous.

Bradley: Three pairs of socks, three pairs of pants, gloves, a woolly hat and earmuffs...

Jon: A polo neck jumper, jeans and big, big, big boots. And a long comfy coat like the ones in the new video (Never Had a Dream Come True). And I put plastic bags on my feet to stop them getting wet!

Bradley: My sister had a pair of pink earmuffs and I had orange ones. I wouldn't be caught dead in them now - unless they were Gucci!

How do you keep warm?

Jon: You can't beat a real fire.

Tina: Yeah, sitting in front of a log fire on a shagpile rug.

Rachel: It sounds really corny but just being with someone you love, snuggled up by a fire with a warm cup of something. Even when you're outside, if you're with someone you love, it's still cosy.

Jo: Drink lots of tea, eat lots of soup and don't go out.

Jon: Absolutely! Stuff your face, that's all I do in winter. And turn on the TV and watch all the old Christmas shows that you haven't seen for a whole year.

Ever been skiing?

Paul: Yeah, and it was one of my best holidays ever. I went to Austria with my friends when I was about 16.
Everyone was traversing through the snow and I'd be hacking through the middle knocking them all over.
Somehow I ended up going backwards, faster than they were going forwards!

Were there any accidents?

Paul: I fell off a lift once. It was a T-bar, where two people sit either side. I went on with a mate who was a lot heavier than me and as he sat down I went doiiiing, flying off into the snow. My skis went one way and I went another!

Bradley: I've never been, I was always too scared 'cos I've heard stories about people breaking their legs. But I'd love to try snowboarding.

Jon: Hopefully I'm going skiing in France for New Year's Eve. I'm not scared but I know I'll have an accident. I'm so clumsy I'll probably break my leg on the first day!

Tina: I've seen so many people come back with plaster casts on their legs, I'm like, "Ooh, no!"

Ever had to miss school 'cos it was snowing?

Jo: Yes, I did - it was fantastic! I would always get really disappointed when the snow turned to slush and you could drive through it. I had this really bad habit of getting my face in talcum powder and putting water in my mouth and pretending I was sick! I would go crying to my mum, "I can't go to school today," and she'd go, "Oh, all right darling, get back into bed!"

Did you ever slip over on ice and fall flat on your bum?

Paul: Yeah, we used to throw water on the snow and make it all icy so we could skid on it.

Hannah: Loads of times! To get to school, we had to go down this one really steep hill to get to the bus stop, and if it was really icy we used to slide all the way down! I ruined loads of clothes doing that!

Jon: Oh yeah! One day, I was running for the school bus and all my mates were sliding, so I thought, 'Yeah I'll do that too.' So I did, but I skidded right past the bus and landed flat on my butt, right in front of everyone.

Ever been ice-skating?

Bradley: Yeah, on Saturday nights, when we had nothing to do, my mate and I would go to Streatham Ice Rink to meet girls (laughs). We hardly ever went there to skate; we'd just hang out and meet people.

Rachel: Yeah, I used to love going ice-skating; I'd go every Saturday. I wasn't very good but I won about three or four badges.

Has anyone ever accused you of being cold as ice?

Bradley: An ex-girlfriend might have when I was being moody.

Jon: I have been known to have my cold days, but it doesn't last that long. When I'm cold I am really cold, usually for no reason. You know when you just wake up on the wrong side of the bed?

How warm are you as a person?

Paul: I'm average, I'm very changeable, depending on who I'm with and how much sleep I've had. If you're tired it affects your mood, but when I'm with my friends I'm very warm.

Jon: I am quite warm, I think, but I'm not overly caring or very sympathetic! Rachel's always saying to me, "You're so unsympathetic." If someone's sick, Rach is the first to say, "Are you all right?" whereas I'm just like, "Get on with it." So I guess, in that way, I'm a little cold.

Rachel: I think I'm very warm. I've grown up in a warm family who like to cuddle and stuff. I like affectionate people and I think it's nice to show affection. Some people are shy and you can mistake that for being cold but I think it's nice to be friendly and warm.

Jo: When it comes to things like puppies, very! But some people say I'm very cold when they first meet me - others say I'm very nice.

Tina: I'm not overly warm, but I'm genuine. I don't pretend to like people when I don't.

Who melts your heart?

Paul: Er, Elle McPherson's nice!

Hannah: I'm not saying! If we're talking famous people, Jesse Spencer is gorgeous - but I don't get all funny over people I don't know.

Jon: My family. The biggest buzz is when you've been away for ages and you open the door and your mum and dad and your family are standing there. That's the best feeling ever.

Bradley: Mariah Carey could melt my heart if she wanted to.

Rachel: I would've put my boyfriend but we've just broken up...

Jo: The two men in my life - my man and my dog, Buster. When I get home and see Buster - he's a little Yorkshire terrier - I go, "Awww!" He's got a little coat he wears when it snows!

Tina: Little things, like hearing a little baby say it's first word or when someone says something kind.

What makes you shiver with embarrassment?

Paul: This dream I used to have about going to school naked!

Bradley: When you say something really stupid and the whole room goes quiet.

Jon: I hate it when you've known someone for ages and you get their name wrong. Or when you slate someone's video in front of the wrong person. It's like, "That was rubbish," and they're like, "Um, I directed that." You're like, "Oh my gosh!" (Cringe)

Where would you go to hibernate?

Bradley: A friend's house with lots of food and drink.

Jon: Probably in my guinea pig hutch 'cos it's warm and cosy and very homely. I'm sure I could squeeze in there, I'm not that big.

Do you miss the cold weather of home when you're away?

Hannah: I know people reading this will think I'm being silly, but I'm actually a bit fed up of the heat in LA and places. But ask me again in siX months!

Jon: I hate it when I have to wear shorts and stuff - especially in LA. Everyone's walking around with these golden tans and perfect bodies, then there's us, strolling around with this white flesh (laughs). Give me the cold any day!

Girls, will you continue to wear skimpy outfits if it gets frosty?

Rachel: (Grinning) Yeah!

Hannah: Nah, I don't ever like going out in anything too skimpy, never mind when it's cold (You're wearing a vest!).

Jo: We only wear little tops 'cos you normally see us in hot weather. I don't think we get our bellies out that much!
